About the role#
This is a paid, full-time summer internship based in Lexington, Kentucky. You will join the Research and Development team to support tribology projects and lubricant development. The role involves a hybrid work schedule, with an expectation of being on-site four days per week.
What you'll do#
- Conduct bench-top tribology testing to evaluate the performance of various lubricants.
- Assist the team in blending experimental lubricant samples.
- Post-process test data and perform statistical analyses.
- Draft technical reports based on your findings.
- Follow all safety protocols, chemical hygiene plans, and laboratory guidelines.
- Complete additional technical tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related STEM field.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous hands-on experience in a laboratory or technical testing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically with data analysis and visualization tools.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, with occasional requirements to lift 40 pounds.
- Ability to walk, climb, and stand for extended periods while working in the lab.
