About the role#
The Nurse Extern position in the Mother Baby unit offers nursing students the chance to gain clinical experience in an inpatient setting. You will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to support patient care and administrative tasks. This is a paid, 8-week summer program running from June 14, 2027, to August 7, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist patients with personal care to support their recovery.
- Perform basic nursing skills as delegated by an RN.
- Maintain a safe environment and ensure the safe delivery of care.
- Complete administrative support functions.
- Maintain required competencies and skills throughout the program.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing program as a student entering your last year.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028.
- For BSN students, completion of your 3rd year.
- For ASN students, completion of your 1st year.
Location & details#
- Location: Manassas, Virginia.
- Schedule: 36-40 hours per week, consisting of three 12-hour shifts.
- Flexibility: You must be able to work both day and night shifts to match your preceptor's schedule.
- Compensation: $17.28 per hour.
- Modality: On-site.
