About the role#
The Student Nurse Technician supports high-quality patient care by assisting the nursing team with direct patient care activities and unit operations under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will work across areas including Inpatient Post-Surgical, Pre-Admission Testing, Pre-Op, the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, and the Operating Room. This is a paid, full-time role with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
- Perform clinical tasks including blood glucose testing, obtaining specimens, removing IV and Foley catheters, and performing EKGs.
- Support nutritional care by documenting intake, output, calorie counts, and vital signs.
- Maintain dietary supplies, clean patient refrigerators, and update temperature logs.
- Obtain and document vital signs, reporting any abnormal findings or patient concerns to the Registered Nurse.
- Assist with patient transfers, transport, and discharge activities.
- Disinfect patient rooms, beds, chairs, and equipment.
- Stock bedside and unit supplies, distribute linens, and make beds.
- Perform routine errands and support unit operations by assisting other caregivers and clerical staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program pursuing an associate or bachelor degree.
- Completion of at least one clinical rotation is preferred.
- Previous patient care or customer service experience is preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Basic mathematical skills for recording patient data.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with patients, families, and the care team.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and common clinical abbreviations is preferred.
- BLS certification within 3 months of hire.
