About the role#
The Student Nurse Technician supports the nursing team with direct patient care and unit operations. You will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in areas including Pre-Admission Testing, Pre-Op, and the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. This is a PRN position requiring a minimum of 24 hours in a 4-week period.
What you'll do#
- Assist patients with daily living activities like bathing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and meals.
- Perform clinical tasks including blood glucose testing, obtaining specimens, removing IV and Foley catheters, and performing EKGs.
- Obtain and document vital signs, reporting abnormal findings or patient concerns to the RN.
- Help with patient transfers, transport, and discharge activities.
- Maintain unit cleanliness by disinfecting rooms and equipment, stocking supplies, managing linens, and replacing sharps containers.
- Support unit operations by answering phones, running errands, and assisting staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program pursuing an associate or bachelor degree.
- Completion of at least one clinical rotation is preferred.
- Previous patient care or customer service experience is preferred.
- Ability to obtain BLS certification within 3 months of hire.
