About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience with reproductive technologies in the beef embryo transfer season. You will work alongside veterinarians and embryologists in both clinic and on-farm settings. This is a full-time position for Winter 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist veterinarians with embryo transfers, conventional embryo flushing, and in-vitro fertilization procedures.
- Handle donor and recipient animals using low-stress cattle handling techniques.
- Prepare collection and transfer areas and maintain clean production spaces.
- Assist with the handling of fresh and frozen embryos.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records for procedures.
- Travel with professional service teams, which may include overnight stays.
- Provide client service while maintaining a professional image.
- Participate in learning opportunities like wet labs, journal clubs, and case-study projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate, graduate, or veterinary student, or recent graduation.
- Completion of at least your sophomore year of undergraduate studies.
- A degree in animal science, pre-veterinary medicine, agricultural business, or a related field.
- Completion of a reproductive physiology course is preferred.
- Experience with advanced reproductive technologies is recommended.
- Excellent cattle handling skills using manual or hydraulic chutes.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in outdoor or adverse conditions.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to operate a company vehicle.
