About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in bovine reproductive technologies. You will work with professional service teams to assist veterinarians with embryo transfers, conventional embryo flushing, and in-vitro fertilization. You will support these procedures in both clinic and on-farm settings.
What you'll do#
- Provide client service during clinic and on-farm visits.
- Travel with professional service teams for on-farm trips, including overnight stays.
- Prepare collection and transfer areas for procedures.
- Maintain clean and well-kept production areas.
- Perform data entry and keep accurate records of procedures.
- Handle mature beef cattle and dairy heifers using low-stress techniques.
- Assist with chute-side and lab tasks with high attention to detail.
- Follow standard operating procedures and company policies.
- Participate in learning activities like wet labs, book clubs, journal clubs, and a case-study project.
What you'll need#
- Completed sophomore year of undergraduate studies.
- Current undergraduate, recent graduate, graduate, or veterinary student.
- Degree in animal science, pre-veterinary medicine, agricultural business, or a related field.
- Completion of a reproductive physiology course is preferred.
- Experience with advanced reproductive technologies is recommended.
- Strong cattle handling skills using manual or hydraulic chutes.
- Ability to work in outdoor or adverse weather conditions.
- Good physical mobility and strength, including the ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to operate a company vehicle.
