About the role#
The Olson Center is looking for interns to support research and industrial projects in advanced manufacturing. You will work alongside faculty, graduate students, and industry professionals on experimental design, data collection, and project validation. This is a paid, part-time position with flexible scheduling to accommodate your academic commitments.
What you'll do#
- Design prototypes and conduct manufacturing experiments.
- Collect and analyze data from material testing and process monitoring systems.
- Use CAD and CAM software for part design and toolpath generation.
- Operate lab equipment while ensuring safety and proper usage.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations to document your findings.
- Collaborate with team members on research objectives and project tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a high school, undergraduate, or graduate program.
- Interest in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with CAD software like SolidWorks or Fusion 360 is preferred.
- Basic understanding of machining, welding, or additive manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work independently and within a team-oriented research environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Location: Durham, New Hampshire.
- Employment type: Part-time.
- Compensation: $17.50 per hour.
- Note: This position is supported by external sponsor funding. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of those funds.
