About the role#
The Media Assignment Coordinator supports the daily editorial operations of Student Media. This role focuses on organizing assignments, monitoring production workflows, and facilitating communication across print, digital, and broadcast teams. The coordinator helps ensure content meets quality standards and provides mentorship to student contributors.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate assignments for writers, photographers, videographers, and multimedia contributors.
- Track deadlines, assignment progress, and overall production workflow.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between print, digital, and broadcast teams.
- Assist with the onboarding and mentorship of student contributors.
- Support quality control and ensure adherence to editorial and production standards.
- Organize editorial meetings, planning sessions, and coverage schedules.
- Assist with breaking news coordination and special event coverage.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a University of Wyoming student with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Basic understanding of news production workflows and journalistic ethics.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet publication and event schedules.
- Majors considered include Journalism, Media Studies, Communications, Business Administration, Marketing, Public Health, Psychology, and Graphic Design.
