About the role#
The Engineering Student Internship offers practical, hands-on experience in an engineering office. Interns support the planning, design, and execution of construction and remodeling projects. This is a part-time, non-benefited position that provides exposure to project coordination, budget management, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the coordination and management of construction and remodeling projects from initial estimate through project completion.
- Support project management within designated budgets, typically ranging from $500 to $50,000, and obtain authorization for any budget adjustments.
- Collaborate with Facilities Construction and Utilities Management teams to ensure projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with university standards.
- Maintain project documentation, including drawings, specifications, schedules, and status reports.
- Conduct site visits to verify construction progress and document existing conditions.
- Utilize software tools such as AutoCAD or Revit to create or update project drawings and models.
- Assist with technical research, reporting, and the preparation of project-related materials.
What you'll need#
- Must be a current University of Wyoming student.
- Prior coursework, projects, or work experience in engineering or project management is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
- Preferred majors include Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental, or Industrial Engineering.
- Preference given to students with junior or senior standing and working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or ArcGIS.
