About the role#
This internship provides practical, hands-on experience in an engineering office, supporting the planning, design, and execution of construction and remodeling projects. Interns gain exposure to project coordination, budget management, and multidisciplinary collaboration, preparing for future careers in engineering and construction management.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the coordination and management of construction and remodeling projects from initial estimate through project completion.
- Support project management within designated budgets, typically ranging from $500 to $50,000, and obtain authorization for budget adjustments.
- Collaborate with Facilities Construction and Utilities Management teams to ensure projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with university standards.
- Maintain project documentation, including drawings, specifications, schedules, and status reports.
- Conduct site visits to verify construction progress, document existing conditions, and perform site inspections.
- Utilize software tools such as AutoCAD or Revit to create or update project drawings and models.
- Assist professional staff in preparing estimates, design documents, bid packages, and project specifications.
What you'll need#
- Must be a current University of Wyoming student.
- Prior coursework, projects, or work experience in engineering or project management is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
- Preferred majors include Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental, or Industrial Engineering.
- Preference is given to students with junior or senior standing and working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or ArcGIS.
