IAE Market Research Internship - Fall 2026

About the role#

The IAE Market Research Internship provides an opportunity to support the Institute of Applied Engineering and SOFWERX in facilitating collaboration and innovation for U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) challenges. This role involves exploring and assessing emerging technologies to support the delivery of innovative capabilities.

What you'll do#

• Plan, lead, and coordinate team-wide market research efforts, including data collection strategies and database administration.
• Conduct market research on USSOCOM areas of interest to identify relevant emerging technologies.
• Evaluate academic publications and technical reports to determine the capabilities and limitations of specific technologies.
• Scout and source experts from academia, industry, and laboratories, consolidating findings into formal research reports.
• Perform quantitative analysis on research submissions using Excel functions and formulas.
• Create research curriculum, facilitate training, and present briefings to the SOFWERX team.

What you'll need#

• U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of the funding and access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
• Current standing as a Junior or Senior collegiate student with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in a field related to STEM (Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Psychology) or Business (Business Administration, Marketing, Economics).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.

• Compensation: $18.50 per hour.
