Videography Internship

About the role#

The University of South Florida Institute of Applied Engineering is seeking a Videography Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role supports the production of visual content for SOFWERX, a facility focused on collaboration and innovation for defense-related challenges. This is a paid, on-site internship that offers students the opportunity to apply their media skills to real-world projects while gaining professional experience.

What you'll do#

• Capture high-quality video footage of events, experiments, demonstrations, and interviews.
• Edit and produce professional video content for internal and external communication channels, including social media and promotional materials.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop visual storytelling concepts.
• Assist with lighting, sound, and camera setup for both studio and field shoots.
• Support post-production tasks such as color correction, motion graphics, sound mixing, and captioning.
• Manage and organize media assets, ensuring consistent file naming, tagging, and archiving.
• Create shorts, reels, and visual recaps for outreach and engagement.
• Participate in weekly market research to identify new capabilities, technologies, and organizations that contribute to innovative solutions.

What you'll need#

• Must be a U.S. citizen due to funding requirements and potential access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
• Active enrollment as a Junior or Senior in an undergraduate program at an accredited local university.
• A current GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Demonstrated experience in videography, cinematography, or multimedia production.
• Strong technical understanding of camera operation, lighting, and audio recording.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and deadlines.
• Strong storytelling, communication, and organizational skills.

• Location: Tampa, Florida.
• Term: Fall 2026.
• Modality: On-site (15 to 20 hours per week).
• Compensation: $17.00 per hour.
