About the role#
The Department of Sociology at Cal Poly Pomona is hiring a Communications and Outreach Student Assistant to support the launch of the Certified Wellness Coach II program. This role runs through January 15, 2027, with the potential for extension based on performance and funding. It is a part-time position requiring approximately 5 hours of work per week.
What you'll do#
You will work with faculty and staff to build awareness for the new program. Your tasks include:
- Researching and gathering information for promotional materials.
- Designing flyers, brochures, and other marketing assets.
- Updating webpage content.
- Creating and managing social media content.
- Filming and editing an informational and promotional video.
- Promoting events and informational sessions.
- Assisting with student recruitment and community outreach.
- Traveling to nearby community colleges or local events as needed.
What you'll need#
We are looking for students who are creative, organized, and reliable. You should be able to work independently and demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. While not required, experience with Canva, graphic design, social media, photography, or video editing is a plus. This role is well-suited for students studying Sociology, Marketing, Communications, or Graphic Design.
Location & details#
This is a hybrid position. Much of the work is completed remotely, but you must attend monthly in-person meetings on the Cal Poly Pomona campus. You may also be required to attend occasional outreach events on campus or at nearby community colleges.
