About the role#
The University of Northern Colorado is hiring a Financial Aid Counselor to manage the student employment program. You will serve as a primary resource for campus departments and students regarding work-study and hourly employment. This role balances administrative record-keeping with student advising and staff supervision.
What you'll do#
- Process and maintain student employment records within the Banner payroll system.
- Review and approve Electronic Personnel Action Forms (EPAFs) for student hourly and salaried positions.
- Supervise and support student peer employees, including hiring, training, and scheduling.
- Advise students and families on financial aid eligibility, work-study participation, and application procedures.
- Coordinate the annual Student Employment Job Fair and provide training for student employers.
- Monitor work-study allocations and ensure compliance with institutional and federal regulations.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- At least one year of professional experience in financial aid administration, student services, or a related field.
- Proven ability to manage high-volume, detail-oriented processes with accuracy.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
- Experience in student advising, payroll, or personnel records is preferred.
