About the role#
The Institute for Social Research at Sacramento State is hiring 25 student assistants to join our research team as Telephone Interviewers. You will assist with data collection by conducting surveys over the phone with business owners, managers, and employees. This role uses Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing software to gather information for government agencies, non-profits, and the academic community.
What you'll do#
- Conduct telephone surveys and read scripts accurately.
- Record survey responses into a computer system.
- Follow specific data collection protocols and project instructions.
- Participate in project-specific training sessions.
- Communicate regularly with your study supervisor and accept feedback.
- Maintain professionalism and courtesy during all interactions with participants.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current Sac State student.
- Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 6 semester units. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least 4 semester units.
- Ability to follow study protocols and record data accurately.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate tasks with a supervisor.
- Preference is given to candidates who are bilingual in Spanish and English or have experience with research and social sciences.
Location & details#
- Work is performed on-site at the CSUS Downtown Building at 304 S Street in Sacramento, California.
- This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited position.
- Shifts occur Monday through Friday between 8 AM and 5 PM. You must commit to at least one four-hour shift per week.
- Students generally work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during breaks.
- Pay ranges from $19.00 to $21.00 per hour.
