About the role#
This internship is part of the California State Parks Relevancy and History Program at La Purisima Mission State Historic Park. The program focuses on community research, inclusive historical interpretation, and creating career pathways for students. You will work under the guidance of park staff to strengthen community engagement and improve access to educational resources for Spanish-speaking visitors.
What you'll do#
- Translate park materials into Spanish and historical or academic documents from Spanish into English.
- Develop outreach materials and educational programs.
- Help plan and run community events and programs.
- Work alongside local community organizations.
- Create a 10 to 15 minute capstone video about your projects and internship experience.
- Support the mission of California State Parks through other assigned tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student taking at least six-semester units or nine-quarter units for undergraduates, or four-semester units or six-quarter units for graduate students.
- Fluency in both Spanish and English.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of local communities, organizations, and resources in Lompoc, the Santa Ynez Valley, and Santa Barbara County.
- Interest or experience in social media marketing, graphic design, and digital content creation.
- A strong interest in history and culture.
