About the role#
The Department of General Services is hiring three Student Assistants to join the Office of Human Resources, Medical Management Section. You will support the team across four key areas: Protected Leave, Disability Transactions, Workers' Compensation, and Reasonable Accommodation. This position reports to the Assistant Section Chief.
What you'll do#
- Assist with caseload management by evaluating FMLA, CFRA, and reasonable accommodation requests.
- Prepare reports, recommendations, and correspondence.
- Manage email accounts to ensure protected leave requests move through the system on time.
- Develop and maintain an annual training calendar for the Medical Management Section.
- Receive, organize, and inventory Reasonable Accommodation equipment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student during the regular term.
- A minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Majors in Human Resources, Public Health, Business Administration, Communications, Sociology, or Political Science.
Location & details#
- This is a hybrid position based in West Sacramento, California.
- Work is typically performed remotely 75% to 90% of the time, with occasional in-office attendance required.
- This is a part-time, non-benefited role.
- Employees must reside in California for the duration of their employment.
