About the role#
The Department of Toxic Substances Control is hiring two undergraduate student assistants to support programs related to hazardous waste management and regulatory activities. This is a part-time, temporary position based in Sacramento. You will work as part of a team of professionals focused on protecting California communities and the environment.
What you'll do#
- Answer phone calls and respond to emails from the public.
- Process ID number applications.
- Assist with business analysis and documentation.
- Support project management activities.
- Conduct research and provide analysis.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student at an accredited institution on the university affiliation list.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience responding to inquiries via phone and email in a professional setting.
- Experience performing administrative or program support tasks.
- Experience working with databases, spreadsheets, or tracking systems.
- Majors in Business Administration, Economics, English, Political Science, Public Health, or Sociology.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM. Students generally work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year, with the potential for up to 40 hours during academic breaks.
- Compensation: $18.27 to $28.17 per hour.
