About the role#
The Executive Office is seeking a student assistant to support policy research and technical development related to artificial intelligence. This role combines hands-on tool building with policy analysis, providing exposure to strategic decision-making and innovation across various office initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Research and analyze emerging artificial intelligence technologies, trends, risks, and best practices.
- Develop, test, and refine AI-powered tools, workflows, prompts, and prototypes to meet organizational needs.
- Evaluate complex information to prepare clear, concise recommendations for executive-level decision-making.
- Explain technical AI concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences through reports, presentations, and demonstrations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student at an institution on the University Enterprises, Inc. affiliation list.
- A declared major in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Public Health.
- A minimum GPA of 2.0 or above and good academic standing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to think critically, conduct thorough research, and communicate results effectively.
Location & details#
- This is a remote position. You must reside in California and perform all work within the state.
- The role is part-time and temporary.
- Work hours are flexible, generally Monday through Friday between 8 AM and 5 PM.
- Students may work up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during academic breaks.
