About the role#
University Enterprises, Inc. is hiring three student assistants to support the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. You will work with developers to build, maintain, and enhance internal applications. This role is designed for students who want to apply their programming skills in a real-world environment while learning modern software engineering practices.
What you'll do#
- Build or modify simple SQL queries, tables, and stored procedures.
- Develop and maintain web application features using .NET Core or Blazor.
- Test and debug application features, documenting any issues and fixes.
- Use Azure DevOps for source control and participate in pull requests.
- Update project documentation and README files as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a college student in Computer Science or Data Science.
- Ability to follow coding standards and existing patterns in a codebase.
- Basic debugging skills, including the use of console logs, breakpoints, and reading error messages.
- Foundational knowledge of C# and .NET Core or Blazor project structures.
- Basic SQL skills, including CRUD operations, simple joins, and familiarity with relational databases.
- Exposure to Azure DevOps or other version control systems.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site position located at 1010 Riverside Pkwy, West Sacramento, CA.
- The role is part-time, temporary, and non-benefited.
- Work hours are flexible, Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM.
- Students may work up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during breaks.
- This position is paid, and employment is at-will.
