About the role#
Blockhouse is an institutional trading infrastructure platform. We run an AI agent that operates within our desk, managing tasks across front, middle, and back-office systems. As an Applied AI Engineering Intern, you will work directly with our founders and engineers to maintain the harness that allows this agent to run safely with real credentials. This role focuses on the systems surrounding the model, including orchestration, isolation, and evaluation.
What you'll do#
- Add a data source end to end, including the tool, skill, and evaluation.
- Extend the orchestration layer with scheduled runs and durable workflows.
- Extend the evaluation layer including grounded checks and token metering.
- Move rules from the standing prompt into tools to optimize prompt length.
- Collaborate with senior engineers on isolation and credential boundary security.
What you'll need#
- You have built an LLM agent with tool use and multi-step turns that ran for real users.
- Proficiency in Python and Rust.
- Experience with Linux, Docker, git, and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Postgres as a durable state store.
- Familiarity with Claude Code and the Anthropic API.
- Preferred majors include Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Data Science.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time internship with rolling start dates.
- Work can be performed remotely, on-site in New York City, or in a hybrid capacity.
- The role is paid and includes a meal and transportation stipend.
- We provide immigration support and offer full-time positions to interns who ship.
