About the role#
We are looking for a Machine Learning PhD Intern to join our AI research team. You will focus on large language modeling and clinical data analysis. This role is for students who have finished their coursework and are currently focused on their dissertation research. You should be within one year of your graduation date. This is a paid, full-time internship with a minimum duration of 10 weeks.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with researchers and engineers to design, develop, and refine large language and generative models.
- Use your machine learning and natural language processing expertise to create novel algorithms.
- Implement, train, and fine-tune LLM and GPT-like models using large-scale datasets.
- Keep up with current research advancements and techniques in machine learning.
- Contribute to the next generation of innovation in trustworthy healthcare.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Ph.D. program for Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- A research focus on machine learning, NLP, LLMs, multi-modal foundation models, or generative AI.
- Strong theoretical and practical background in NLP and state-of-the-art architectures.
- Proficiency in deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Solid Python programming skills and the ability to write clean, well-documented code.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with distributed parallel training and cloud-based infrastructure is helpful.
- Familiarity with RLHF, prompt engineering, and parameter-efficient tuning.
- A track record of publications or contributions to the machine learning and NLP communities.
Location & details#
- Location: Seattle, Washington (Remote friendly).
- Participation requires you to be physically present in the United States for the duration of the internship.
- This is a full-time, paid position at $45 per hour.
