About the role#
As a Data Science Intern at Premier Inc., you will support our data science team in product development and model research. You will apply statistical knowledge, programming skills, and data modeling techniques to identify patterns and business opportunities. This role involves working closely with data scientists and product engineers to develop and deploy machine learning models while gaining proficiency in new methodologies.
What you'll do#
- Acquire, assemble, and prepare datasets for analytic projects.
- Conduct analysis and interpret findings to present to your team.
- Participate in data exploration and conceptual design for strategic initiatives.
- Work with product engineers to translate prototypes into new products and features.
- Define and document methodologies based on data insights.
- Interact with beta client users to gather feedback and refine methodologies.
- Assist with the implementation of methodologies into production environments.
- Share knowledge and provide training to peers.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Currently a rising junior or senior in a Bachelor’s program, or an MBA candidate.
- Coursework in Statistics and Machine Learning.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Expertise in relational databases.
- Knowledge of healthcare data analytics, including experience with EHR, claims, or billing data.
- Ability to communicate effectively and adapt to changing priorities.
