About the role#
Gamble Sands is seeking an Agronomy Intern for the Summer 2026 season. This position provides hands-on experience in the maintenance and care of turfgrass and operations supervision within the golf industry.
What you'll do#
- Perform cultural practices including aerification, verticutting, topdressing, rolling, and mowing of all playing surfaces.
- Assist with the calibration, safe handling, and application of liquid and granular fertilizers and plant protectants.
- Work with irrigation technicians on hand watering, using soil moisture sensors, and troubleshooting irrigation systems.
- Participate in daily course preparation, such as setting up tees and cutting cups.
- Maintain records for maintenance activities and chemical inventory, and attend planning meetings with the Director of Agronomy.
- Lead small crews on specific daily tasks or special in-house construction and renovation projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent graduation from a 2-year or 4-year program in turfgrass management, agronomy, horticulture, or a related science.
- Basic knowledge and operational experience with turf equipment, such as mowers and trimmers.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Understanding of fertilizer and chemical application techniques, safety, and calibration.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to perform physical work in varying weather conditions, including standing, walking, and bending for extended periods, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- No prior experience is required.

- Compensation: $17.50 to $18.50 per hour.
- Schedule: 24 to 40 hours per week.
