About the role#
This internship provides hands-on exposure to the operation, maintenance, and integration of low-voltage intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and tolling infrastructure. The program is divided into three phases, starting with utility locates and preventive maintenance, advancing to network operations and field device management, and concluding with toll system maintenance and troubleshooting. This is a 6-month temporary position with the potential for conversion to full-time based on performance and business needs.
What you'll do#
- Support utility locates and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Assist technicians in identifying underground infrastructure.
- Inspect equipment and document system conditions.
- Gain experience with field devices including CCTV, DMS, and detection systems.
- Learn how systems communicate through Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks.
- Assist with inspections and basic troubleshooting of electronic toll collection infrastructure.
- Observe real-time responses to system alarms and outages.
What you'll need#
- A valid US driver's license with a clean driving record.
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and a curious, eager-to-learn mindset.
- Ability to frequently stand, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfort working in environments with moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather, and traffic.
