About the role#
This is a 6-month temporary internship based in Tampa, Florida. The program guides interns from foundational field skills to the splicing and testing of complex fiber networks. You will start by learning fiber optic tools, safe handling, and installation practices before advancing to splicing support and troubleshooting. Depending on business needs and performance, this position may be converted into a full-time role.
What you'll do#
- Assist with splice enclosure preparation.
- Support butt and mid-sheath splicing activities.
- Use OTDRs, light sources, and power meters to verify continuity and splice quality.
- Generate and review bidirectional OTDR reports to diagnose signal loss and validate network performance.
- Work with high-fiber-count cables and support complex splice configurations.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Clean driving record with a valid US driver's license.
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to meet physical demands, including standing, reaching, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Comfort working in environments with moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather, and traffic.
