About the role#
This internship provides experience in the manufacturing and packaging industry. You will work within the Machinery department on project work to develop your business mindset and understanding of our processes. This role is a step toward future opportunities at the company upon graduation.
What you'll do#
- Design parts and build 3D models to production quality.
- Create part drawings and clear assembly drawings for complex systems.
- Organize and maintain documentation for Alloyd parts and purchased components.
- Perform design calculations, including forces, moments, and bending.
- Read and interpret bills of material to create 3D assemblies.
- Observe and assist during vendor and sales meetings.
- Coordinate with production staff, other engineers, and the CNC shop.
- Follow all plant and machine assembly safety rules while completing tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS program for Mechanical Engineering, specifically in your 3rd or 4th year.
- Completed coursework in CAD, Statics, Dynamics, and Mechanics of Materials.
- Proficiency in Solidworks.
- Familiarity with technical drawings and GD&T.
- Ability to work independently and a strong curiosity to learn.
- Strong communication and people skills.
- A focus on safety in all work environments.

- This is an on-site position based in DeKalb, Illinois.
- The role is part-time with a rolling term.
