About the role#
The External Affairs Intern supports the District in managing local groundwater resources. You will assist the External Affairs Department with government affairs, public education, and community outreach programs. This role involves working with staff, project managers, and the public to meet communication goals.
What you'll do#
- Implement District-wide government affairs, public education, and media outreach programs.
- Create public relations and education materials, including brochures, charts, and promotional pieces.
- Attend community events, meetings, District tours, and workshops.
- Perform administrative tasks such as updating databases, tracking inventory, and managing promotional materials.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited college or university, or graduation within the last 6 months.
- Preferred majors include Communications, Political Science, or Marketing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work up to 20 hours per week.
- Successful completion of a physical and background check.

- This position is located on-site in Lakewood, California.
- The internship is paid and part-time.
- This is a temporary role that does not include benefits.
