    About the role#

    This is a full-time co-op position based in Albany, New York, running from January 11, 2027, through December 17, 2027. You will work on-site to support our advanced Film Deposition tools. The role involves hands-on project work and requires the application of Lean principles to improve business processes.

    What you'll do#

    • Design, procure, install, and test hardware modifications for semiconductor experimental reactors.
    • Perform assembly operations for electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical components.
    • Develop test specifications and methods by interpreting blueprints, drawings, and diagrams.
    • Assist with product enhancement and development activities.
    • Help establish quality standards and procedures.
    • Collaborate with engineers and technical staff in a team environment.
    • Write technical reports that summarize findings and suggest solutions to problems.
    • Coordinate with external vendors regarding outsourced services and products.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an undergraduate program for electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
    • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
    • Experience with hand tools and power tools.
    • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams.
    • A self-starting attitude and strong technical aptitude.
    • Preferred: Experience with micro-controller programming and technical writing.
    • A plus: Knowledge of vacuum systems and chemical reactor hardware.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Albany, New York.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Physical requirements: You may work in clean room environments, confined areas, or at heights. The role requires the ability to lift up to 35 pounds and perform tasks involving bending, crawling, or climbing. You must be prepared to use personal protective equipment when working with chemicals, high voltage, or moving parts. Occasional travel to factory or customer sites may be required.
