About the role#
This 12-week summer internship provides hands-on experience in the Fund Accounting Operations department. You will support the daily accounting activity required to price mutual funds and variable products. You will work alongside auditors, custodians, transfer agents, and sub-advisors to understand how financial operations function within a large organization.
What you'll do#
- Prepare cash activity and projections for portfolio managers.
- Research and verify corporate behaviors.
- Verify daily interest, dividend, and expense accruals.
- Post security trade and shareholder activity.
- Audit, resolve, and approve daily net asset value and unit value calculations.
- Prepare monthly reconciliation work papers and ad hoc reports.
- Reconcile activity between the custodian and accounting systems, correcting any discrepancies.
- Coordinate with the custodian to ensure funds receive all entitled income and principal payments.
- Participate in team functions such as pricing, distributing daily reports, and sending net asset information to vendors.
- Ensure accounting detail is accurate for reporting and tax units.
- Assist in preparing materials for external auditors.
What you'll need#
- Current Junior status with a graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028.
- Undergraduate degree pursuit in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
- Academic GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Organizational, time management, and communication skills.
