About the role#
The Family Center Intern role provides a structured learning and professional development experience at our Parkville location. You will work under the supervision of a Family Center Director to gain practical exposure to community-based operations. This position offers an opportunity to observe and learn across departments including membership, fitness, and youth programming.
What you'll do#
- Shadow associates across various departments to understand daily center operations.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development activities to build career readiness.
- Practice customer service, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Build relationships with staff members and community members.
- Develop an understanding of the center mission, values, and community impact.
- Complete assigned learning activities and required documentation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a high school, college, university, vocational program, or workforce development program.
- Professional demeanor and good character.
- Ability to follow directions, accept supervision, and communicate clearly.
- Ability to meet the qualifications established by the Y in Central Maryland.
- Ability to walk, stand, kneel, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Availability to report to the office on designated workdays.
