About the role#
The Family Center Intern role provides a structured learning experience at our Baltimore location. You will gain exposure to the daily operations of a community-based Family Center by working under the supervision of a director or assigned associate. This position offers an opportunity to observe various departments, including membership, fitness, and youth programming.
What you'll do#
- Shadow associates across multiple departments to learn how the center functions.
- Participate in professional development and training activities.
- Build relationships with community members and staff while practicing communication and teamwork.
- Develop an understanding of our mission and values.
- Complete all required documentation and learning activities for your internship.
- Gain practical experience in customer service and professional workplace skills.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a high school, college, university, vocational program, or workforce development program.
- A professional demeanor and good character.
- The ability to follow directions, accept supervision, and communicate clearly.
- You must meet the specific qualifications established by the Y in Central Maryland.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- You must be comfortable working in environments that may include hot, humid, or outdoor conditions.
