About the role#
Walt Disney Imagineering is the creative group that designs and builds Disney theme parks, attractions, and resorts. This internship offers the chance to work within the Show Systems team to support the design and installation of special effects. The role runs from January 2027 to June 2027.
What you'll do#
You will assist the Special Effects lead with the concept, design, and production of effects for various attractions. Your tasks include preparing documentation to define project scope and collaborating with teams to meet technical requirements. You will also participate in mock-ups, field installations, and testing. The role involves supporting maintenance and operations training to ensure the success of the final installation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or higher in an accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Art, Industrial Design, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering, or Physics.
- Solidworks knowledge.
- Basic understanding of special effects currently used in Disney theme park attractions.
- Ability to form a plan to achieve goals and track progress against that plan.
- Knowledge of technical fields related to special effects, such as mechanics, optics, and materials.
Location & details#
This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Glendale, California. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess unrestricted work authorization, and be able to provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the program.
