About the role#
The Department of Biology at The University of New Mexico is hiring a student for office support. This is a part-time, on-site position based in Albuquerque. You will help the department run smoothly by handling daily administrative tasks and assisting staff with clerical work.
What you'll do#
- Answer phones, route calls, and take messages.
- Greet visitors and direct them to the right people.
- Open and distribute incoming mail and other materials.
- Type documents, draft basic correspondence, and enter data.
- Print letters, labels, and reports.
- Operate and oversee the copy machine and fax equipment.
- Maintain files, records, and other office documentation.
- Assist the HR representative and Graduate Coordinator with routine administrative tasks.
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and conferences.
What you'll need#
- Experience in receptionist or customer service roles.
- Proficiency with word processing and data entry.
- Ability to use basic office equipment.
- Familiarity with Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational and time management habits.
- Ability to multitask and work independently while maintaining accuracy.
