About the role#
The Accounting Intern performs routine day-to-day operations for the Provost Office. You will assist with ledger entries, account reconciliation, and general office tasks. This is a paid, on-site position based in Albuquerque.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and enter journal entries.
- Process and batch cash receipts and bank deposits.
- Enter cash transactions into the ledger and reconcile reports.
- Create spreadsheets for financial analysis.
- Enter data into Banner and nonprofit ledger software.
- Run queries and print reports using Hyperion and Banner.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial records.
- Follow departmental policies and procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at The University of New Mexico with at least 6 credit hours.
- Preference is given to Freshman and Sophomore students.
- Major or coursework in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of accounting and financial principles.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and email.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work well both independently and in a team.
- Initiative to help with problem-solving.

- Pay: $13.50 per hour.
