About the role#
The Student CARE Specialist promotes student wellbeing, safety, and security at The University of New Mexico. You will work with campus partners like the UNM Police, Student Health and Counseling, and the Dean of Students to address student concerns and behavior. This role involves managing student cases and acting as a primary liaison for the Campus Assessment Response Education (CARE) Team. You may also serve as a Respondent Support Specialist for Title IX cases and act as a Campus Security Authority under the Clery Act.
What you'll do#
- Plan, coordinate, and host bi-weekly meetings with campus partners.
- Gather and assess data from incident reports to form student case conceptualizations.
- Oversee a caseload of Student CARE cases.
- Create CARE Actions and support students, staff, and faculty as they navigate university processes.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all case activities and decisions.
- Facilitate communication between stakeholders while following privacy and confidentiality protocols.
- Plan and provide training or programs to educate the campus community on addressing student behaviors.
What you'll need#
- Ability to evaluate reports according to industry standards.
- Understanding of privacy regulations and confidentiality protocols.
- Experience managing student cases and providing follow-up actions.
- Capability to facilitate communication between various stakeholders.
- Academic background in Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, Criminal Justice, Human Resources, or Communications.
