    About the role#

    The Seattle Times offers a 10-week, paid summer internship for students pursuing a career in journalism. You will work alongside our newsroom staff on real-world assignments. This is a full-time, on-site role for Summer 2027. Note that this is not a reporting or writing position.

    What you'll do#

    • Manage the homepage by curating headlines and promoting breaking news.
    • Alert news teams to trending topics and run A/B headline tests.
    • Create trending and analytics reports to help teams make SEO decisions and evaluate coverage.
    • Engage potential readers on third-party platforms.
    • Craft social media plans and draft alerts.

    What you'll need#

    • Junior, senior, or graduate student status at a four-year college or university.
    • Major in Journalism, Communications, or Media Studies, or a demonstrated commitment to print or online journalism.
    • Strong knowledge of AP style, news judgment, and journalistic ethics.
    • Experience with non-personal use of platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
    • Interest in social media trends for non-personal accounts.
    • Previous internship experience at other news organizations is strongly preferred.
    • Commitment to the importance of diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences in newsrooms.

    • Location: Seattle, Washington.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: $21.30 per hour.
    • Benefits: Employee assistance program, paid holidays, public transit subsidy, and a complimentary Seattle Times subscription.
    • Schedule: Some weekend work may be required.
