    About the role#

    The Seattle Times offers a 10-week summer internship for students pursuing a career in journalism. You will work alongside our staff on real-world assignments. This is a paid, full-time position.

    What you'll do#

    • Pitch and handle daily reporting assignments, including breaking news, trending topics, and enterprise stories.
    • Identify and interview news sources.
    • Report information quickly and accurately for digital and print production.
    • Collaborate with the Photos and Graphics teams to support your stories.
    • Participate in brainstorming and story-pitch sessions.
    • Travel as needed for news coverage.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a junior, senior, or graduate student at a four-year college or university.
    • Majors in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or English.
    • Strong reporting, writing, and multimedia skills.
    • A demonstrated commitment to journalism.
    • Social media skills and digital literacy.
    • A personal vehicle available for the duration of the internship.
    • An understanding of and commitment to the importance of diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences in newsrooms.
    • Previous internship experience at other news organizations is preferred.

    • Compensation: $21.30 per hour
