About the role#
The Nuclear Company builds the software that manages the construction of nuclear power plants. You will join our engineering team to contribute to the Nuclear Operating System (NOS), which handles regulatory automation, supply chain, cost, and scheduling. You will work alongside full-time engineers and nuclear experts to ship production-grade code that supports real-world energy infrastructure.
What you'll do#
- Build new features and modules for the NOS platform.
- Develop AI-powered software, including LLM-backed features, retrieval-augmented generation, and tool-calling against internal systems.
- Create data integrations across platforms like Palantir Foundry and AWS GovCloud.
- Turn build-a-thon prototypes into production-ready features.
- Develop automated testing and compliance infrastructure to keep NOS audit-ready.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS program for Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Strong programming fundamentals in at least one modern language such as Python, TypeScript, Java, Go, Rust, or C++.
- A track record of shipping working software through personal projects, course work, or prior internships.
- Ability to work on-site in Washington DC, five days a week, for the full six-month term.
- This position requires access to information and technology subject to U.S. export controls. You must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident).

- This is a full-time, six-month internship for the Fall 2026 term.
- The role is based on-site in Washington, DC.
- Compensation is $25.00 per hour with a $2,000 monthly housing stipend.
