    About the role#

    The Hub Project is seeking an External Affairs Intern to support our Federal Affairs, Strategic Communications, and Partnerships teams. This role involves building relationships with congressional offices, creating messaging materials, and coordinating with coalition partners. You will work on campaigns that use research, grassroots organizing, and media tactics to advance our goals.

    What you'll do#

    • Track the status and movement of legislation.
    • Research policy topics and draft memos or one-pagers for the team.
    • Schedule and attend meetings with Congressional offices, committee staff, and federal agency officials.
    • Attend legislative hearings and provide summary reports.
    • Assist with the creation of external communications such as press releases, newsletters, and coalition emails.
    • Maintain contact lists for elected officials and coalition partners.

    What you'll need#

    • Strong research and writing skills with the ability to explain complex policies.
    • Attention to detail and strong organizational habits.
    • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.
    • Interest in political science, public health, communications, or journalism.
    • Experience with legislative tracking or progressive issue campaigns is helpful.

    • Location: Washington, D.C.
    • Term: Fall 2026 (September 9, 2026, to December 4, 2026).
    • Modality: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote).
    • Status: Full-time, paid position at $20 per hour.
