About the role#
The Excess & Surplus Underwriting team at The Hanover Insurance Group is hiring an intern for a 10-week summer program in Richmond, Virginia. This full-time position offers students a chance to apply their academic knowledge to real business assignments and gain professional experience within the insurance industry.
What you'll do#
- Partner with Underwriters to support daily underwriting functions.
- Handle day-to-day transactions including quoting, endorsements, and documentation.
- Complete a specific project for the Professional Liability Department.
- Develop and deliver a final presentation summarizing your work to management and leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor or advanced degree program.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration or Data Science.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Ability to commit to a full-time, 10-week program.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

- This is an on-site role based in Richmond, Virginia.
- The internship is a full-time, paid position during the Summer 2027 term.
