About the role#
The Pharmacy Technician Externship Coordinator manages the externship program for Pharmacy Technician students. You will oversee student progress, maintain site partnerships, and ensure documentation is accurate. This role requires you to reside in Texas and work on-site in Houston.
What you'll do#
- Secure and manage a network of externship sites that align with program goals.
- Find new affiliations in the areas where students live.
- Visit externship sites to evaluate student performance and build relationships with partners.
- Work with Career Services to help students move into full-time jobs.
- Guide students on professionalism, attendance, and performance.
- Lead orientations and assist students with resumes and interview preparation.
- Manage and teach the online externship course.
- Provide one-on-one tutoring for students preparing for board exams.
- Track student progress through timecards, evaluations, and exit interviews.
What you'll need#
- An Associates Degree.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail, hospital, or specialty pharmacy.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience coordinating externships, clinical placements, or student training.
- Experience building partnerships with healthcare facilities or community organizations.
- Experience conducting site visits and resolving performance issues.
- Proficiency with learning management systems and curriculum delivery.
- Previous teaching or training experience in allied health or adult learning is preferred.
