About the role#
The Medical Assistant Externship Coordinator bridges the gap between academic preparation and real-world healthcare practice. This role focuses on fostering partnerships with externship sites to ensure students gain hands-on experience that meets industry standards. You will manage externship placements, enhance student outcomes, and support the professional growth of students entering the healthcare workforce.
What you'll do#
- Establish and maintain a network of externship opportunities tailored to Medical Assistant students.
- Ensure academic learning integrates seamlessly with practical application in healthcare environments.
- Conduct regular site visits to evaluate student performance and strengthen relationships with externship partners.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to students regarding attendance, professionalism, and performance expectations.
- Promote the externship program through targeted outreach and networking initiatives within the medical community.
- Collaborate with internal teams to facilitate the transition of students into employment opportunities.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including timecards, evaluations, and affiliation agreements.
What you'll need#
- A minimum of 3+ years of practical experience in the medical assisting field.
- A Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential is required.
- CPR certification is preferred.
- A strong foundation in clinical practices.
- A passion for mentoring and supporting student success.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
