About the role#
The Clinical Intern for the Main Emergency Department supports the nursing team by providing specialized care to groups and individuals. This role focuses on delivering culturally based, age-specific care while adhering to the American Nursing Association code of ethics and the Ohio Nurse Practice Act. This is a full-time, on-site position.
What you'll do#
- Conduct holistic assessments of patients' physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational needs.
- Develop and collaborate on multidisciplinary plans of care in partnership with patients and families.
- Provide individualized patient and family education based on assessed needs.
- Evaluate nursing care interventions and adjust the plan of care as necessary based on patient response.
- Document the nursing process, including care plans and patient updates, accurately in electronic medical records.
- Coordinate with healthcare team members to communicate pertinent patient data and maintain continuity of care.
What you'll need#
- Current licensure to practice nursing in Ohio.
- BLS certification, which must be obtained prior to patient contact.
- ACLS certification, required within 6 months for those in step-down and ICU areas.
- Ability to provide age and culturally specific patient care.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills and accountability for the implementation of care.
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required within 5 years of hire for those who do not already hold one.
