About the role#
The Clinical Intern for the Main Emergency Department supports the nursing team by providing specialized care to patients and their families. This full-time, on-site role focuses on the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver culturally based and age-specific support while adhering to the Ohio Nurse Practice Act and professional ethical standards.
What you'll do#
- Conduct holistic assessments of patients to identify physical, psychosocial, and educational needs.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to develop and update multidisciplinary plans of care.
- Provide individualized education to patients and families based on their specific needs.
- Perform nursing interventions and adjust care plans as necessary based on patient response.
- Document the nursing process accurately and in a timely manner within electronic medical records.
What you'll need#
- Current licensure to practice nursing in Ohio.
- BLS certification, which must be obtained prior to patient contact.
- ACLS certification, required within 6 months for those in ICU or step-down areas.
- Ability to provide age and culturally specific patient care.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills and accountability for the implementation of care.
- Completion of a BSN degree within 5 years of hire for nurses without one, unless specific experience exemptions apply.
