About the role#
The Boston Beer Company is seeking a motivated co-op to join the Sensory Production team in Milton, Delaware. This position supports sensory evaluation programs to ensure product quality and consistency. You will gain hands-on experience in laboratory operations, data analysis, and quality assurance while working directly with Manufacturing, Quality, Brewing, Packaging, and Operations teams. This is a full-time, 6-month program running from January 4, 2027, through June 25, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Lead sensory panel activities, including sample collection, testing creation, and panel execution.
- Support discrimination testing, descriptive analysis, and lexicon development.
- Maintain the sensory laboratory, manage inventory, and ensure equipment calibration and readiness.
- Analyze sensory data to identify trends and support reporting and dashboard development.
- Assist in communicating findings and recommendations to business stakeholders.
- Participate in process optimization, SOP development, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to connect sensory science with product quality and consumer experience.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program in Brewing, Psychology, Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Statistics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- A strong scientific foundation and interest in sensory science, quality assurance, or manufacturing.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Previous laboratory or brewery operations experience is preferred.
- Experience with software such as Compusense or XLSTAT is a plus.
Location & details#
- This role is located on-site in Milton, Delaware.
- You are expected to work on-site five days per week.
- You must remain enrolled in school upon completion of the co-op.
