About the role#
The AES Corporation is offering a Substation Engineer Co-Op position for the Fall 2027 term. This role provides practical experience in the design of electrical substations within our AES Ohio engineering team. You will work on-site in Dayton, Ohio, in a full-time capacity.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with staff engineers to design components for 12kV through 345kV substations.
- Develop physical layouts, one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Produce detailed engineering design packages that meet AES Ohio and industry standards such as IEEE and NERC.
- Complete additional tasks and assignments as directed by your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a four-year degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
- Sophomore academic standing or higher is preferred.
- Strong academic background, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is preferred.
