About the role#
As an Investment Planning Intern, you will work with experienced professionals on projects that support the electric grid and the energy transition. You will apply your academic background to real-world challenges while collaborating across engineering, operations, and business teams. This is a full-time, on-site role for Summer 2027 based in Dayton, Ohio.
What you'll do#
- Support engineers on projects designing distribution and transmission power systems.
- Develop solutions to gather, store, and use electrical asset data.
- Create and maintain electrical models using PSSE and CYME.
- Draft scope of work documents, cost estimates, and project schedules.
- Build business cases using financial modeling tools and validate data for annual budget reviews.
- Manage budgets for T&D annual investment programs.
- Apply Management of Change and Asset Governance processes.
- Participate in root cause analyses for equipment failures.
- Support the development and updates of Asset Life Cycle Plans.
- Attend site visits to substations and engineering sites.
- Participate in AES learning opportunities and network with team members and leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Electrical Engineering or Business Administration degree program.
- Ability to work in an Agile, collaborative environment.
- Strong analytical and technical skills.
