About the role#
As a Summer Engineering Intern with the Transmission Engineering team, you will work alongside professionals on projects that support the electric grid. You will apply your academic knowledge to real-world challenges and collaborate with teams across engineering, operations, and business functions. This role provides an opportunity to shadow other teams and gain experience in the field of engineering.
What you'll do#
- Design high voltage transmission line facilities to support system improvements, reliability projects, and load growth for AES Ohio.
- Visit field sites to verify topography, identify obstacles, and meet with construction crews.
- Address engineering concerns and gather design feedback.
- Update discrepancies between prints, schematics, databases, and system models.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a four-year degree program for Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering.
- Sophomore status or higher is preferred.
- A strong academic background.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and team collaboration skills.
- Experience with design software like PLS-CADD or SolidWorks is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is preferred.
