About the role#
The Student Development Specialist III manages cases for students seeking support and services. You will monitor case trends, take action when needed, and connect Student Assistance Services with university colleges and departments. This position provides support to the Critical Incident Response Team and represents the department on various university committees.
What you'll do#
- Conduct developmental and educational conversations with students.
- Refer students to university and community resources.
- Follow up with students regarding concerns, crises, or transition issues.
- Consult with faculty, staff, and parents about student needs.
- Provide follow-up support for Critical Incident Response Team members after immediate assistance is provided.
- Document student interactions and assessments in databases.
- Coordinate programming such as Silver Taps, Former Foster initiatives, or the Pocket Pantry program.
- Deliver training and presentations for campus stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three years of experience in student affairs or a related specialty area, including two years specifically in Student Affairs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of dependability.
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively as part of a team.
- A Master’s degree in student affairs, counseling, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience with case management in a higher education setting is preferred.
