About the role#
This internship focuses on the intersection of machine learning and systems. You will work on putting large neural networks into production for real-time inference on edge devices, including Tesla vehicles and Optimus. You will build the frameworks and infrastructure to train and deploy these models, aiming to extract maximum performance from Tesla's custom AI silicon.
What you'll do#
- Iterate on quantization, compression, and distillation techniques to improve inference efficiency.
- Build high-performance AI frameworks that deploy neural networks onto edge devices.
- Harden the AI infrastructure used to fine-tune networks for Tesla AI.
- Co-design neural networks for Tesla's custom AI ASIC to minimize latency.
- Manage the co-design loop between software and hardware to maximize the utility of edge chip circuits.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related degree program.
- Expected graduation date of 2028 or earlier.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with PyTorch or a similar machine-learning framework.
- Hands-on experience training and deploying neural networks for real-world applications.
- Understanding of computer systems and architecture.
- Experience with CUDA.
- C/C++ skills are a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Palo Alto, California.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- This is a full-time, on-site position requiring 40 hours per week.
