About the role#
The Factory Firmware team builds the tools and processes that keep vehicle software running smoothly on the production line. As an Integration Engineer intern, you will work alongside development, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure firmware is validated and deployed effectively. You will dig into vehicle logs, troubleshoot production issues, and create solutions that help us meet manufacturing targets.
What you'll do#
- Build software tools for vehicle diagnostics, testing, and validation.
- Set up system-level manufacturing processes for firmware from concept to final product.
- Integrate firmware tests into the manufacturing line and support hardware and software launches.
- Validate firmware versions during the integration and release process.
- Develop software to bridge process gaps, maintain quality, and streamline production.
- Troubleshoot high-priority production issues using root cause analysis to implement fixes.
- Influence how firmware integrates into vehicle subsystems across the factory.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date between May 2027 and May 2028.
- Experience with Python or other scripting languages, or C/C++ for embedded systems.
- Ability to work with large data sets using tools like SQL or Splunk.
- Experience using version control systems like GitHub and an understanding of branching strategies and monolithic repositories.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to people with different backgrounds.
- Experience with new product introduction, process improvements, embedded software testing, or high-volume manufacturing environments is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Austin, Texas.
- Term: Winter 2027 through Spring 2027.
- Commitment: Full-time (40 hours per week) on-site for at least 12 weeks.
- This is a paid internship for students actively enrolled in an academic program.
